POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Events Manager is responsible for managing all chamber-run events, including but not limited to planning, coordination, and implementation of events. The Events Manager acts as project-manager for all events, maintaining calendars and schedules, making sure deadlines are met, and ensuring all tasks are being done according to each event’s schedule. The Manager will manage events committee meetings, solicit volunteers for events, secure vendors, entertainment, and sponsors, and bring in assistance from Marketing and Executive Director as needed to offer support. The Manager will also look for opportunities to grow and strengthen the events.

This position is fulltime and currently located remote, though when the time comes this position will be located in Excelsior, Minnesota.

Salary: Starting at $55,000 - Depending on Experience

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- Customer service experience
- Professional phone etiquette experience
- Valid driver’s license
- 5+ years of event management experience preferred
- 3+ years of project management experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and excellent organization skills
- Knowledge of customer service philosophies and practices
- Knowledge of and skill with phone etiquette
- Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with Chamber Staff, chamber members, community members, and other partners
- Understands the principles of customer service and how they relate to daily activities, programs and events
- An understanding of financial accountability and able to work within designated budgets
- Working knowledge of Google Suite
- The ability to solve problems and communicate effectively with Chamber Staff, chamber and community members, and other partners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage planning, coordination and implementation of events, including but not limited to maintaining calendars and schedules, making sure deadlines are met, ensuring all tasks are being done according to each event’s schedule
- Coordinate volunteers for committee service and day of events
- Oversee day-of event operations
- Management of event vendors and partners
- Solicit assistance from Marketing and Executive Director as needed to offer support
- Manage event social media properties and posting
- Research other events and look for opportunities to grow and strengthen the events
- Responsible for ordering and purchasing supplies for events
- Coordinates and leads event committee meetings; attends other meetings as necessary
- Complete responsibility for both the revenue and cost sides of P&L
- Solicits local and nationwide businesses for items for door prizes and goody bags and maintains accurate lists of items received and what value they have
- Contacts/solicits local business as potential partners for special events
- Completes the communication circle after events regarding partners and donors
- Coordinate sponsorship marketing requirements including social media, print marketing, and website updates
- Completes assigned job tasks with deadlines as directed
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
HOURS:
